Episode 77: I Don’t Dig Wells!

When you think of the title missionary, do you think of khaki shorts and digging wells? Or construction projects, boring presentations during church services, and never-ending requests for funds? This false perception of what it means to be a missionary will so often keep people, specifically millennials, from ever going into the mission field. The regulars (including Chad, who finally arrived in Germany) look deeper at this barrier, share their experience (including a hilarious rant from David) and give some practical tips for those feeling called to missions.

Episode 76: I Don’t Do Paperwork!

In continuing with our series, the guys look at another obstacle that Millennials can face when wanting to go into missions, “The Myth of Instant Specialization.” The world tells us to only contribute in a way that perfectly aligns with our skills, dreams, or passions. This mentality is a major roadblock to radically serving God. The regulars discuss the importance of having a servant heart and a willingness to “pay your dues” and how this ultimately leads to real contentment and joy.

In this series, you’ll get to travel to the past, when the regulars were all together at the Steiger International Center back in October 2017. They discuss some of the unique roadblocks that Millennials face in trying to live a life of radical obedience, and how they seem to experience a particular difficulty in entering the mission field. In this first episode they talk about the fear of commitment, and how many times Millennials want to go from experience to experience without actually fully giving themselves to anything.

Brian "Head" Welch joins the guys on the podcast once again. They discuss all that God has been doing through Brian after the Korn shows, how Steiger has been able to partner with him in ministry, and the time he pranked Luke right before a seminar in Poland. Unfortunately, there is no random story from David, but this episode is full of laughter, good times, and inspiring stories of God's power!

Is social media ripping apart society? According to former Facebook exec Chamath Palihapitiya, it is. The guys look deeper at the subject of social media and the negative and positive affects it's having on our culture. While all of that might sound like a serious discussion, there is plenty of rants and banter that you will not want to miss, including another random story by David that involves him getting confused for a woman… again.

Luke, David, and Ben discuss an interview with the hip-hop artist, Logic, who expresses his surprise that his suicide presentation song “1-800-273-8255” has made a difference in people’s lives.

They dig into the causes of said surprise, the shortcomings of his solutions, and how Christian artists, of all people, should have a clear message, given that they have the truth.

Plus they give a shout out to Canada

Finish the Race

I have never been around someone more anointed than John*.

We were together in one of the most dangerous parts of Amsterdam, and he started talking to a guy on the street. Suddenly, the man dropped to his knees and began to repent.

Later, we went to Vondelpark in Amsterdam. This park is located in the center of the city and was where all the alternative people hung out. We sat together on a hill, and people started coming and sitting at his feet. It was like John had some magnetic presence. After the crowd gathered, he would just begin to talk to them about Jesus. I had never seen anything like that before.

All the regulars are finally back together again! With Luke bringing his diplomatic sensitive side to the conversation and Chad talking for days, what else do you need?

In this episode, they discuss the demise of U2, the effect that fatherlessness is having on our world and how apparently white christians don’t get care about morality.

Think that sounds crazy? Well that’s not all, in David’s random story he tells of the time his band was labeled as a Satanic group in the newspapers.

While Luke is hanging out in Russia, Ben, David and Chad try something new... they bring in the buzzer! For each topic discussed, they have 8 minutes to answer before the buzzer goes off and it’s time to move on. They talk about some difficult subjects, including the excessive consumerism in the USA, whether or not Christians should be casual about alcohol consumption, and the continued downfall of celebrities that are being accused of sexual harassment.

Why is AC/DC in the title you may ask? Well, listen to David’s Random story and you’ll find out!
The regulars are finally all back together! With Billy Graham recently turning 99 years old, they celebrate and discuss the amazing ways God has used him in his ministry and bring up the question of whether or not his model for preaching the Gospel is still effective today. David shares not one but TWO random stories and Ben gives an official salute to our listeners in Chile.
