Some of you have asked why we titled our first US tour what we did. Valid question that deserves a logical response.
“Arrows are Deadly: Missional Tour”
The tour name itself was inspired from a couple of different angles, including here:
The LORD thundered from heaven,
And the Most High uttered His voice,
Hailstones and coals of fire.
He sent out His arrows and scattered the foe,
Lightnings in abundance, and He vanquished them. (Psalm 18:13 & 14)
The Bible uses the language here in the book of Psalms illustrating God shooting arrows to destroy his enemies or to scatter those who dare stand against Him.
The idea is also that God is shaping each of us to be a sharp arrow against the work of the enemy (the very reason Christ was sent according to 1 John 3:8) and to pierce lives for good in this Generation. Make no mistake, this is war. One of Satan’s greatest tactics is to convince us that war-time living is a radical idea. It’s not. Don’t believe the lie. “We fight not against flesh and blood but against powers and principalities….” While a spiritual battle rages around us, God chose you and I (normal followers of Jesus) to be deadly arrows in his hands. The second we are plucked from disaster, God begins sharpening us for His purposes. The sharpening process is what we call life. Welcome to the grindstone!
Secondly, we received a prophetic word from a friend about how God was going to use C&L!:
“You are an arrow in God’s quiver. An arrow in God’s hand.
Sharp arrows being released to this generation.”
That really struck us. God is taking us through these often difficult and challenging times to sharpen our faith and our effectiveness in reaching culture. Dull arrows aren’t deadly, they’re annoying. Sharp ones get the job done.
Our prayer (and heart’s desire) is that God would continue revealing to each of us just what a war-time life He has called us to. This is dangerous business, but if you are a follower of Jesus, you signed up for the best fight ever. The battle is won. Victory is secure, there’s not even a question. Let’s press each other on towards the prize.
What does it mean to live “missional”?
Ed Stetzer says, “Being missional means actually doing mission right where you are. Missional means adopting the posture of a missionary, learning and adapting to the culture around you while remaining biblically sound”
In the setting of a traveling tour, this means it is vitally important that we are constantly becoming aware of the needs around us and the way God desires to meet those needs through our hands and feet. It means treating our neighbors in the ways we would treat ourselves. Looking for opportunities to serve others, to bless others, to encourage, equip and pour ourselves out on others. This approach to living “missional” will not only take place at every show – each night our passion is to draw those attending (and ourselves) into God’s presence. Yet it’s not enough to simply roll into a club or a church and bring the “good news” – we’ve got to be asking God to help us love those before and after the show. Where no one knows (or cares) who we are or what we do. Opportunities to love neighbors simply because they’re our neighbors and Christ’s love ought to teach us to love. Practically, this means spending time with Jesus – DAILY. Hanging out with God. Communion with (and empowerment through) the Holy Spirit. Asking God to give us eyes to see and ears to hear. Not just getting out of a van to pump gas, using a restroom, eating lunch, stopping for supplies, etc. but seeking out opportunities to be the sharp arrows God has designed and is perfecting us to be. Practicing faith.
Pray for us! Pray especially that we would bear fruit and that God would be glorified above everything else. Pray for divine encounters and for opportunities to touch lives everywhere we go. Pray that God keeps us humble and full of love and that He unites all our hearts as one.
Thank you and see you this summer.

I may not be able to help donate, but I will definately keep this in my prayers.
Who would be at the shows? What bands I mean..
(and there’s a typo on #5. (“hep”))
I hope some of the heavier bands are on this tour.
Which festivals will y’all be at?
Hey guys, I love the logo “Arrows are Deadly”.
What does it symbolize?
“4 Take delight in the Lord,
and he will give you your heart’s desires.
5 Commit everything you do to the Lord.
Trust him, and he will help you.”
Psalm 37:4-5
There is no doubt in my mind that you will have above and beyond both physically and spiritually what you need to accomplish that which the word lays forward in the vision of Christ Jesus. The harvest is insanely ripe! Contending for you guys in the Spirit. Be Encouraged.
i absolutely love the ideals and reasons behind this tour. im trying to set up a trip with the youth that i volunteer with, and this seems like the perfect match. We are going on a missionary trip to new orleans on july 18, and i was hoping to catch the tour in san antonio on july the 16th. i was wondering if perhaps some of the various bands would be interested in talking to the youth and getting them pumped up to go serve God and the needs of the people we are helping. please reply to my email if y’all get this, it would mean a great deal to me and the youth.
god bless you guys and thank you for what you are doing.
love, Frank
