Blog Entry: New Zealand is hard to capture. The landscape is diverse, from smooth rolling hills to snow-capped volcanic peaks to pristine beaches and picturesque cityscapes. The cultural diversity is just as wide as the land itself. One thing is clear; New Zealand does represent one of the farthest reaches. We were informed that Christchurch, on New Zealand’s South Island, is the final point of civilization for any daring to make the trek further down into Antarctica. New Zealand was the last landmass on earth to be discovered, making it the youngest nation in the world. Though explorers may have tarried in making this new discovery, God has always had His eyes on her.
Amazing when we consider how God has seen fit to bring us an artist (The Ember Days) from this distant country. Even more surprising that Come&Live!’s first International experience would be in this far reaching land. A businessman friend told us that New Zealand is often times utilized by global companies as a test market, a real-life experiment on whether or not a product or a plan will work. Much of what the Lord spoke to us while in New Zealand was His plans and His heart for the nations. He continues to remind us that the Great Commission is to see disciples made of nations. Not just those living within a nation, but entire nations serving the Most High.
Where Come&Live! has felt a steady tug to go into the world, New Zealand served as a bright reminder of the need that exists, challenging us to widen our dreams far beyond our own borders. We did not have to travel far to discover the need. Even in LAX airport we encountered Bobby, a 76-year-old Veteran from Ft. Lauderdale. He welcomed our prayers over his life and for injuries he had sustained in the war, allowing us the opportunity to candidly speak with him about Jesus, and why we were convinced He was worth following. In 76 years, living the majority of his life in Florida, not a single believer had ever approached him to pray with him. Conviction set deeply on us. How many people do we walk past that God has planted as an opportunity for His kingdom expressed? God, please teach us to live radically obedient to you. He repeatedly asked us why he was experiencing goose bumps up and down his arms (just talking with us) and how his knees and back were feeling exceptionally warm. Bobby had told us that he was inspired by our willingness to pray, that he did own a Bible and planned on picking it up again after the years it had spent collecting dust. Work in Bobby’s life, Lord. Work in all of us.
Bobby was the first of many conversations and countless prayers. We experienced so much on this trip. Daily we witnessed Jesus making bodies whole (with over 100 testimonies of healing in shoulders, knees, backs, wrists, tendons, stomachs, necks, ears, legs, headaches, hearts, and more), supplying hearts with fresh joy and newfound zeal for Christ, or countless simply reminded that their Father loves them and has perfect plans established for their lives. God allowed Ascend The Hill and The Ember Days to draw thousands of Kiwi’s into God’s presence through worship; the hunger was evident as was the fulfillment of it. Most humbling was to witness how open people were to seeing the Gospel lived out amongst them and how openly we were received.
This past fall we launched a New Zealand fundraising campaign, not knowing what to expect. As we have now consistently learned, this adventure we are living is made possible when Christ Jesus lays a light burden on the hearts of individuals like you, helping us accomplish what would otherwise be impossible. If you were one of those who prayed for us or supported our journey financially, thank you!
How beautiful it has been to see God’s kingdom at work. We have not yet arrived. This is just the beginning. New Zealand read as the first page of our global story that God is continually preparing our hearts for. We are grateful for all God has done and so much more expectant for all that He has yet to do.
Well, it’s your winter, their summmer. It’s slowly getting warmer beneath the equator.
This sounds great! I am working on getting to New Zealand to minister to the Kiwi youth. I love the music that I find here at Come & Live and I come today to see New Zealand is on your heart’s as well, I think I love this site even more!
When are you exact dates? I will be in Auckland December 28th- January 11th, and in Wanganui on the 12th. I will also be in New Zealand in May and June 2011. My goal is to move to New Zealand and start a Network of Youth Centers throughout the country.
Hey Chad – looks like we’ll be there from January 11th – Feb. 5th or so – we may just miss you but hopefully not. Check back for the full dates posted within the next week or 2.

What cities are you coming to? (Please say Hamilton)
Hamilton was just confirmed!
Tauranga City?
Hmmm I guess unlikely if Hamilton has been confirmed…
Please tell me there is going to be an Auckland date?
you guys are incredible. I can’t offer any money at this point, so I will pray for you guys, for the ministry, and for the youth of my nation
There should be a Tauranga date. That would rule my entire life.
I love the heart behind Come&Live, I am praying for the gospel to fall on good soil in the youth in New Zealand, and that the Holy Spirit would move in power just like in the book of Acts!
Hey
what are the dates for the Auckland region??
Yay! I’m extremely excited. I live in CA, but I am happy that C&L! is expanding. Not to mention that the artists can go on tour and speak and praise God. I know good things will come out of this; I believe God will use you all to bring many more into His Kingdom♥
So good! Move, Holy Spirit! Protection! Signs! Wonders! Miracles! Salvation! Restoration(to the bands after the tour too!)

I’m taking a van load to from our church is Cooks Beach to the concert tonight in Te Puke. 3 hours driving to get there and I know it will be totally worth it! Can’t wait to worship our King with these guys! Thank you so much for all that you do – it’s an inspiration!
I’m a native of Wellington, New Zealand, and really looking forward to seeing you guys at your concert tomorrow and at Parachute… gonna be mean.
Prayin. The Lord is with you guys, that is for sure. Greater things will you do by the power of His Spirit that has never been done before. He makes all things new and He has something new even in this moment. Bless ya’ll.
I was introduced to Ascend The Hill’s music this last Sunday at Parachute! Fabulous job guys, and all glory to God for it:-) Love hearing all those old hymns given a bit of a makeover:-)
A word of encouragement from NZ. My wife Sarah went to Parachute with a good friend and says she was blown away by your sincere, down to earth love for God. She said she thoroughly enjoyed losing herself during the worship with the ‘Come & Live’ artists. I was also encouraged hearing about your thoughts regarding the music industry and where God is leading you. Keep up the good work. I have a ticket for 2012, hope to see you there.

This is a fantastic post guys, thanks so much for sharing!! My oldies are from NZ, but I was born and bred in Australia. Nevertheless, I love Kiwi Land and hearing these amazing reports of your work for the Lord is ever so encouraging!! Hearing the reports of peoples responses, especially that of Bobby is even greater! God truly works in the lives of those who are willing to take leaps of faith. Keep it up, I look forward to the next update!
God bless.

Really amped for this documentary! But it doesn’t seem to be under downloads
Sorry for the delay guys – it’s coming! It will be up by late tonight/tomorrow AM at the latest!
I’m really looking forward to this DVD. I was blessed to have hosted Ascend the Hill and The Ember Days together with Joe Burgers last June as they travelled through my area and was thrilled to be a supporter of this mission. I know amazing things were accomplished in New Zealand as I have personally witnessed how God works through these wonderful young musicianaries. Thank you Come and Live for your nurturing, support and blessings you bestow on all your bands and the amazing things you do for the Kingdom!
what are the chances of this being up in the next 4 hours? wanted to show it at my youth tonight =]
assuming thats not breaking any copyright laws or anything lol
Chad,
Who’s the artist of the last track being played (around the 25 minute mark) in the background during the video reel recap? It’s really good! Just wondering…
Great documentary by the way, I can’t stop watching it!
Love,
Kyle
@Kyle – I came here looking for that exact info. Anyone know who the last band is?
I really would like to know if anyone has the answer.
Thanks
