Wood & Wire

When I was fourteen, I heard “Summer Song” by Joe Satriani on the stereo in my Uncle's truck. In those four minutes and fifty-six seconds, I decided what I wanted to do with my life: Play guitar.

Art With A Message Is Propaganda

Speaking truth into the music and art scene today can be intimidating. The gospel is so countercultural. Also, the sense is that everyone’s already heard and are not interested. Possibly one of the more intimidating obstacles is the concept that faith should be a private matter and not to be spoken of in public. Based on this assumption people will say that we shouldn’t “use” the platform of art and music to preach. Or that art with a message is propaganda.
Jesus said in Matthew 9:37 that “the harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.”  Looking around it’s obvious that these words are as relevant now as when Jesus first spoke them. As followers of Jesus we are called to make a difference, and yet there have never been enough workers for all the work there is to be done.

Surviving A Night With Rob Zombie And Korn

Waiting backstage for Brian Head Welch was surreal. One, because seeing the row of busses and trailer trucks took me back to a time where I walked between many a backstage venues. Two, the fact Korn has more than one outspoken follower of Jesus in the band is miraculous and wild beyond anything I would have ever dreamt up.

The Night Is Coming!

This year our tour with No Longer Music had to be one of the most intense tours so far.
I first met Mattie back in my transitional phase out of Tooth and Nail into Come&Live!. If there’s one thing that resonated in my heart back then - which still does now - it’s Mattie’s passionate love for Jesus. Few people I know have started and stayed as close to Jesus through-out their musical career as Mattie has. We’re honored to share a little bit about what he’s learned along the way here as a guest blog. Read on and be encouraged!

Their mission is to reach as many different people and nations as possible with the undiluted gospel of Jesus. I recently had the privilege of interviewing Mark Mohr, lead vocalist and founder of the band.

To Be Everywhere Is To Be Nowhere

I sat down to start writing this blog but then my phone buzzed, Instagram declared “you have a new follower!” - awesome. Ok back to writing, but first, I need more coffee. I filled my cup, I exhaled, and thought “ok, let’s do this…” I wrote two sentences before a “ding,” signaling the arrival of a new email, broke my concentration..” I'll just see what it is, and then go back to writing…”

If God Takes His Hand Off Of Me, I'm Dead

I was about to speak in a high school in Sydney Australia after a local band called “Furthermore’ played.” The principal told me that these students were very cynical, so don’t feel bad if they just ignore you and mock you.
I used to think God wanted me to walk away from my band KoRn and the whole crazy metal scene for good. But now I know God’s real purpose in leading me away from that world was not to remove me from it completely; it was to prepare me for going back into it.
